Obtaining Test Results
Please leave 3 days before contacting the Practice to obtain your test results. We ask that you call for the results when we are less busy ie after 2pm any day. Some types of tests take longer to process - cervical smears & imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI). Please note, if this falls over a Bank Holiday there will a delay so please leave extra time to contact us.
Please note that we can only give test results to the patient for reasons of confidentiality and data protection. You can nominate someone to call and receive medical information on your behalf but we require written permission for this to be entered on your medical record. If the patient is unable to understand the results then legal documentation ie Power of Attorney will need to be noted on the patient records. Please don't be annoyed with the Receptionist if she refuses to give information to you when you are not the patient. If you enquire about a result the reception staff can tell you if the result has returned and whether the doctor has seen it. They can pass on any comments the Doctor has made or whether they intend to take any further action. The Reception Staff are not medically trained so if you have any queries regarding your tests they can request a ringback from a GP.
The Practice would only contact you should your tests require follow-up. This could either be via letter or telephone call - please make sure we have up-to-date telephone numbers for you. Patients will not be contacted if their results are normal.
Thank you.
