As a rule, results can only be given to the individual concerned to preserve patient confidentiality and remain in line with data protection rules. If you wish for your results to be given to someone other than yourself the surgery must have written permission of this which will be noted on your medical records and will be available to the reception staff when results are requested. We are happy to give results to the carers of those who do not have the capability of understanding the results themselves.
Our Reception Staff are only authorised to advise you of results which have been checked by a doctor.
Sometimes they may ask that you ring back to talk to a doctor—this does not imply anything dreadful about the result, some results need to be explained by a clinical member of staff.
Please try to telephone for results after 2.00pm.
